Dan Post's Biography

When the Alumni Association rebooted the Marana High School Hall of Fame in 2011, it was decided to only induct alumni.  Previously, many wonderful and worthy people who were a part of MHS were inducted, but they were not alumni.  Over the past ten years, it was also discussed to keep the door open for recognizing those who have made a positive impact on MHS and its community and to honor them formally and publicly.  With that in mind we are calling this the Legacy Award and are proud to announce our inaugural recipient is Dan Post.

There is no doubt Mr. Post has touched many lives through his service to Marana Unified School District.  He has been a mainstay in our community for decades and has shown personal interest in the success of schools, the people, the district, they system, the greater Marana community, but most importantly the students.

Dan Post served as a Marana Unified School District Governing Board member for 40 years, including 13 years as president and 4 years as vice-president.  During his service, MUSD grew from 3,000 students in 4 schools to 13,000 in 18 schools.  Mr. Post served with 8 superintendents and was instrumental in the bonding, construction and opening of the vast majority of schools in the district.  Most importantly, Dan Post helped create a culture in which students, parents, and teachers feel valued and celebrate recognition throughout Arizona for a Commitment to Excellence.

Dan Post has been honored with the name of the "Dan Post Transportation Facility" and with the inaugural Marana Education Association (MEA) Friend of Public Education Award recognizing community members who have acted as champions of public schools and in service to the needs of students, educators, and families in Marana.

In 1927, Dan's mother was one of the original graduates in a class of six.  Then of his children graduated from MHS and many of his grandchildren attend MUSD schools.  He has MHS in his blood for which we are grateful.  MHS and MUSD would not be the same without the influence of Mr. Dan Post.  Thank you!
